Product 1

I plan to produce a three-minute music video for my fictional artist Trouvaille Whitlock. The target audience is 16-25-year-old mass market demographic. They are an audience who want to be emotionally engaged with the video and expect it to be socially relevant. The music video is a performance narrative music video with the artist starring in the music video singing the song but also a narrative story along the side. My song is called “Wildest Dreams” and will present a video about two teenagers (within the age of the target audience) falling in love and having arguments so the artist does not know if their relationship will last forever, by the artist and the male actor (being in a relationship) both being the age of the target demographic it will hopefully help attract more people to want to watch it and will make the story more relatable. The music video will be visually interesting throughout and easy to follow narrative that shows a story of two teenagers in love. It will include various locations of the couple together such as at a restaurant together and going shopping and finally at the park which is where the clips of the artist singing alone will also be filmed as if she is thinking back remembering their relationship and if she thinks it will be long lasting. I want to use locations that are relatable for young people and a mix of places you would go as a young couple. I will include a range of shots including low angle shots, close-up shots, extreme close-ups, mid shots, and panning shots etc. This is to make sure the music video is not just a static shot video and is more visually interesting for the audience and enables the audience to feel more emotion with the characters with a range of movement. I am also planning in post-production to match up some of the cuts and edits with the beats in the music to make it flow better and be more pleasing to the eye. Also, in post-production I might add different tints over the top of the clips of the couple’s shots, so it is easier to tell that it has already happened. I plan on the video looking very aesthetically pleasing, I want the girl to wear casual creams and beige colours to fit with the fictional artists aesthetic, and I also want to put the boy in a casual outfit as well. My main character is my fictional artist (the girl), and my second character is her boyfriend (the boy), I am representing two different gender representations – female and male and also representing different ethnicity’s with the fictional artist originating from Norway and the other actor from Britain. My fictional artist Trouvaille Whitlock will appeal to Universal Music Group, as their aim is to identify and develop artists/songwriters to then produce and distribute and promote their songs to create a diverse and culturally rich collection of music. At the end of the music video in the credit section I will promote the website, trying to get people that enjoyed the music video to get involved more by checking out the website.

Product 2

I am going to produce a website that promotes my fictional artist, Trouvaille Whitlock with interactive elements for her fans, such as a Q+A box where they will be able to enter question that the artist can answer in her next Q+A, along with a covid section where the artist will have talk about what she had done in lockdown and then below will give the fans a chance to tell her what they did in lockdown. I plan to use images of Trouvaille Whitlock in a simple plain outfit, headshots on the home page and tour page, using a video as the home page background to keep the eye visually engaged, I would like to have the video as a music producing video with instruments being played and the artist singing and producing some of her other music tracks. I want to keep a simple neutral colour scheme throughout the website keeping with the same brand identity as the music video. Using the same typography and filter tints etc. I want the website to be youthful looking to attract a younger audience and target demographic. I will attach her social media accounts to all the pages of the website to make it more interactive for fans. I want it to be aesthetically pleasing so I will use some white space and light modern colors for the target audience. I would like to include a tour gallery on the tour page to show some past shows and on the home page under the music video maybe a few ‘behind the scenes’ videos from the music video, and an area for the fans to be able to submit a message/contact the artist as interaction. I intend to use brand identity from Universal Music Group on the website like their logo and relevant information. I would like to include a merchandise link on the website with pictures of merchandise and tour merchandise and promote tour dates and tickets for the artist.

How do you intend to link your media products to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the digitally convergent nature of your media production?

I plan to link them together by using the music video to promote the website at the end of the video when showing the credits, it will be a call to action telling you to check out the website, it will all be using similar style fonts making it look sleek and modern. If the audience finds the website first there will be a lot of content on the website about the music video along with a link and so they both promote each other and interest them to look further into this artist and to discover their merchandise and tour dates etc. I hope to make the website very interactive so that the artist is more relevant to the audience and so they want to click and watch the music video. Having Trouvaille (fictional artist) as the star in the music video and being in the photos on the website will promote her as the artist and intrigue people to want to learn more.
